Back into Winter

This time last year, we were having a heatwave:

This year, it’s quite the opposite!

The wind has created some pretty big snowdrifts and really weird shapes.

Craft-wise, I have been knitting quite a bit, making an item for a swap I’ve signed up for on Ravelry. I don’t want to say what it is until my swap-partner has received it, so I can’t post any pictures yet. Soon though! I have also made a few more flower brooches for my Etsy shop.

I want to get making some different items for the shop too, but lately I’ve been concentrating on getting the decorating finished and getting the house back to normal. Mission as yet unaccomplished!

The Thaw

Yesterday was the last snowy day. We’d had another 10 inches in the night, but the temperature has warmed up and it’s fast melting.

By the afternoon, rocks and trees were starting to look dark and wet as the thaw takes hold.

Last night it rained and rained and rained and there was some loud thunder and very bright lightning! This morning the hill had turned back to green.

Although it’s sunny outside, it’s very windy so I’m getting cosy in front of the fire and have started my third pair of socks. I’m thinking of giving them to my sister, but also tempted to keep them myself!

Snow and Socks … again!

Well, the snow continues. It’s been a week now and last night we had another few inches.

I took these pictures on my walk this morning:

Yesterday I managed to get a photo of the long-tailed tits on next-door’s feeders. They are so cute! My favourite name for them is “bum-barrels”, so I always call them that!

In knitting news, I have finished my second pair of socks. I used the same pattern (King Cole Sox – which was free!) and wool (Wendy Roam Fusion in colour “Fosse”) as for my first pair, but I ribbed the whole of the ankle. They are cosy. I’m wearing them now!
